Promoting research and awareness for responsible used oil management

Safe collection is one of the first and most important steps in responsible used oil management. The way used oil is collected, stored, handled, and transported can affect the safety of collectors as well as the environment. Poor handling can lead to spills, leaks, accidental exposure, or contamination of soil and water.
Through our Knowledge and Research Programme, we focus on understanding the challenges faced during used oil collection and promoting practical knowledge around safer collection practices. The programme also supports research, information sharing, and learning that can help collectors, businesses, and other stakeholders make better decisions.
The purpose is to ensure that safety is not treated as an afterthought. By improving knowledge around collection and handling, we can encourage safer working practices and help build a more responsible used oil management system.
